This Week's Sermon: We'll continue our study of the first four chapters of Genesis with a sermon from Erik on Genesis 1:3-25. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare for Sunday's service.
City Church Basics: Our next session of City Church Basics will take place on Friday, January 15th (7-9:30pm) and Saturday, January 16th (9:30am to noon) at Grace Covenant. If you’re interested in taking part in this next session, please RSVP to Val Catrow (val@citychurchrva.com). Contact Erik (erik@citychurchrva.com) with questions.

GATHER
Common Good RVA 2016 Conference--Early Bird Registration Ends Saturday! Common Good RVA’s 2016 Conference is scheduled for Saturday, January 23rd from 9am to 1pm at Veritas School (3400 Brook Road). Common Good RVA is a post-partisan vision for Richmond’s flourishing that finds concrete expression in everyday decisions for the common good. This year’s conference will focus on helping us answer the question “What is my place?”–both in the world and as a member of God’s kingdom. David Kim, Executive Director of Redeemer’s Center for Faith and Work in New York City will serve as our keynote speaker. We’ll also hear from Richmonders as they share their experiences with discerning the connect between vocation and location. Early bird tickets are $10 (price goes up to $12 on January 9th) and can be purchased via commongoodrva.com.
Prayer Moving to 2nd and 4th Thursdays: At City Church we strive to be a community of prayer dependent on God for His purpose, protection, and provision. Previously we met every other Thursday, but this year we will switch to meeting at 7am (still in the church office) on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month. So our first prayer time of 2016 will be on Thursday, January 14th.
SERVE
Nursery and Children's Worship Volunteers Needed: We are in need of 14 additional nursery volunteers and 4 additional Children's Worship teachers to complete our February-May volunteer schedule. If you're interested in help to care for and teach some of City Church's youngest (and cutest!) members, please contact Jennifer Murphy (jennifer@citychurchrva.com) to sign up.
Meals for City Church Families: We are currently providing meals for several City Church families: Matt and Meagan Cinder; Stefan and Lara Kling; Grant, Tracye, and Ethan Woodfin; Jane and Mabel Marshall; and Blake, Lindsey, and Calum Stack If you’re interested in caring for them in this way, please visit takethemameal.com and use the family’s last name as the log-in and password.
