This Month's Prayer Needs: July

At City Church we strive to be a community of prayer dependent on God for His purpose, protection, and provision. Please join us in praying for the following…

EVERYDAY DOXOLOGISTS: JOURNALISTS & WRITERS
Please pray for members of City Church who work as journalists and writers. Pray that they would: grow in their love for scripture and not waiver from the truth; find ways to disclose truth and offer hope in their writings; rest in God when under the stress of deadlines; and use their gifts and abilities to glorify the Lord and serve others.

LOCAL MISSION: RICHMOND JUSTICE INITIATIVE (RJI)
RJI (Richmond Justice Initiative) is a non-profit organization of modern day abolitionists who use their gifts and talents in the battle against human trafficking. Please join the staff of RJI in praising God for the 9,624 students reach through their Prevention Project, a curriculum designed to equip student leaders to recognize and work to prevent human trafficking. Join in them in praying for Benefit for Freedom, RJI’s largest annual fundraiser and in thanking God for the over $15,000 in received and committed support for this event. To learn more about the work of RJI, visit richmondjusticeinitiative.com.

GLOBAL MISSION: JENNA MURPHY OPEDUN
Jenna Opendun is a City Church member and missionary serving in Fort Portal, Uganda through Serge with her husband, Boas, and their son, Nile. The Openduns are back in the US to undergo orientation and assessment with Serge before reapplying to serve in Uganda as a couple. Pray that this process is successful and that God will provide financial supporters for their work as a missionary family. Please also join them in prayer for the well being of their friends back in Uganda as another wave of COVID-19 has caused the country to go on lockdown. For more updates on Jenna and her work in Uganda, email her at Jopedun@serge.org.

MERCY & JUSTICE: HUMAN TRAFFICKING
According to the Prevention Project, founded by City Church Partner RJI, human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery, typically defined as the trade of human beings through force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of exploitation for labor, sexual purposes, or organs. Please pray for the estimated 40.3 million people worldwide currently living in these conditions—that they be delivered from harm and be granted comfort, care, and security in body and spirit. And please pray that justice wins out as we hold closely Jesus’s words from Luke 18: “And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily.”
