New Staff Member Search

Dear City Church Family,

City Church is looking for a new staff member! As you know, we’ve had a lot of staff transition over the last four months and that time has helped us identify the kind of person we need to help us meet the challenges of ministering faithfully in and to the city of Richmond.

Over the past several weeks in worship we’ve been talking about what it means to be a more and more church: a church with more and more faith, facing more and more suffering, and living with more and more love. We’re excited to think about how a new staff member will help us realize all that God wants us to be. Specifically, we expect that this new staff member will organize and supervise our City Group ministry and support other avenues for adult spiritual formation. While it would be appropriate for this position to be a pastoral level position, we are more focused on finding the person God has for us. For now, we are open to hiring someone who is not ordained. We know that this new staff member will remind us of the gospel and point us to Jesus—through God’s word and through relationships. We’re looking for someone who loves the city, is zealous about bringing beauty to brokenness, and someone who will fit well within our collaborative approach to ministry.

We’ve assembled a great team of folks to help City Church identify its next staff member. That team is composed of: George and Julie Davis, Meg Haden, James Murphy, Julie Pence, Chris Rohde, and Luke Saunders. I will work closely with the team to help identify and recruit strong candidates. We’ve already begun networking, gathering resumés, and conducting interviews. Our hope is to hire someone as early as January 1, 2019, but we’re prepared to wait a little bit longer to find the right person for City Church. Above all, please pray for us as we undertake this process. Prayer expresses just how dependent on God we are as we wait for Him to provide the right next person to lead and serve within our church family.
