Mabel Jane Robins Marshall
Dear City Church Family, Yesterday afternoon, just as our church family gathered for worship, our dear friend, and the mother of a City Church member, Mabel Jane Robins Marshall passed from this life into glory. She was 85 years old.
Many of us got to know Mabel through her daughter Jane, who has been a member at City Church for many years. Mabel loved to worship at City Church, often singing along to old, familiar hymns during our service. All who had the opportunity to talk with Mabel remember her sharp mind, her quick wit, and her bright smile. If ever there was an embodiment of the spiritual gift of Joy, it is Mabel Marshall. She will be missed, surely, but she will also be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
In recent months, Mabel’s health had been deteriorating, although the end came suddenly. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family, and covered in the prayers of the faithful.
A memorial service celebrating Mabel’s life will take place on Thursday morning, July 14, at 9:30 am, at Sandston Baptist Church. A graveside committal service will follow at 11am at Washington Memorial Park. All are invited to both services, as well as to a luncheon reception at 11:45 am at the Recreation Center. Visitation will take place at Nelsen Funeral Home on Laburnum Avenue, on Wednesday, July 13, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
Rebecca Hendrix is coordinating our care for Jane Marshall and her family during these hard days for them. If you would like to help in any way, please contact her directly at rebeccabhendrix@gmail.com. Please be in prayer for the entire Marshall family and especially for Jane as she mourns the loss of her mother in the weeks and months ahead.
In great hope of the resurrection of the dead, Erik
