PREPARE & CONNECT

This Week's Sermon: Joshua will preach on Luke 5:12-16 this Sunday. We invite you to read ahead as a way to prepare for this week's service.

Christmas Eve Services: We will have two Christmas Eve services: a family-friendly service of Lessons & Carols at 3:30pm and an 11pm Lessons & Carols service with the Lord’s Supper. Both services will take place in the sanctuary at Grace Covenant. Please note: childcare is not provided during these services.

Missionary Updates: We've gotten holiday updates from two missionary teams we support. Head over to the City Church website to see what they're up to!

The Bread for the Body: The first installment of a series highlighting different ways people are serving City Church is up on the webste. We hope you'll take some time to read it and be encouraged by how a small group of people is contributing to the body in a very practical (but essential) way. Read it here.

GATHER

Men's Dinner at Tanglewood Ordinary: Gentlemen, please join us on Thursday, January 7th for dinner at Tanglewood Ordinary out in Maidens, Virginia. Meet in the Grace Covenant parking lot at 6:30pm; we’ll carpool out to the restaurant and plan to be back by 9:30. The cost is $25 per person and includes as much food and drink as you want, dessert, tax, and tip. Please RSVP to Frank Allen frank.allen@richmond.edu by January 4th.

Common Good RVA 2016 Conference: Common Good RVA’s 2016 Conference is scheduled for Saturday, January 23rd from 9am to 1pm at Veritas School (3400 Brook Road). Common Good RVA is a post-partisan vision for Richmond’s flourishing that finds concrete expression in everyday decisions for the common good. This year’s conference will focus on helping us answer the question “What is my place?”–both in the world and as a member of God’s kingdom. David Kim, Executive Director of Redeemer’s Center for Faith and Work in New York City will serve as our keynote speaker. We’ll also hear from Richmonders as they share their experiences with discerning the connect between vocation and location. Early bird tickets are $10 (price goes up to $12 on January 9th) and can be purchased via commongoodrva.com.

SERVE

Household Items Needed: One of our regular attendees is in need of some household items as he settles into his new (and long-awaited) apartment. Needed items include: dishes, cookware, kitchen utensils, lamps, curtains, and linens. We’ll be collecting items over the next several weeks, so if you have anything you’d like to donate, please drop them off in the parlor during our Sunday services. You can also contact David Perks (the deacon leading this effort) directly at dperks12345@gmail.com to arrange item drop-off or pick-up.

Meals for City Church Families: We are currently providing meals for several City Church families: Matt and Meagan Cinder; Stefan and Lara Kling; Grant, Tracye, and Ethan Wood n; Jane and Mabel Marshall; and Blake, Lindsey, and Calum Stack If you’re interested in caring for them in this way, please visit takethemameal.com and use the family’s last name as the log-in and password.

Mercy Fund on Sunday: We will take up a special mercy fund offering at Sunday’s service, as we always do on the last Sunday of the month. Whatever is given will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.
