Congregational Update: Erik's Sabbatical

February 17, 2017

Dear City Church Family,

It is with great joy and anticipation that we invite you to join us in sending our Pastor, Erik Bonkovsky, and his family on sabbatical this summer. As we have learned and studied about God’s gift of sabbath rest to us, His people, we now have the unique opportunity to pray for, encourage, and send Erik and his family on their first sabbatical after nine years of service to City Church.

Our Sabbatical Planning Team has been working toward this goal since the winter of 2016, and our hope and prayer is that a 13-week sabbatical will provide Erik with gospel refreshment and renewal. During the sabbatical, our church will be led by our pastoral staff, Joshua Earman, Jim Pulizzi, and our City Church Elders and Deacons. We also expect the sabbatical will bring renewal and refreshment to City Church as our congregation engages in parallel study of rest and repentance during the summer.

We hope that you will rejoice with us in this gift of rest and restoration for the Bonkovsky family. If you are interested in learning more about the specifics of Erik’s sabbatical or have questions about its purpose and design, we invite you to a brief Q&A time following the service on Sunday, March 5th. We welcome anyone with questions to join us during that time.

We are grateful for your partnership in the Gospel. May we see more of Jesus’ love for us and the Creator’s gift to us in resting together this summer.

In Jesus,

The City Church Sabbatical Planning Team
(Val Catrow, Shannon Reppard, Ian McIntosh, Susie Austin, Bo Vaughan, and Erik Bonkovsky)

PS: We've put together a Sabbatical FAQ for those interested. Please take a look at a it–and don't hesitate to get in touch if you have additional thoughts, questions, or concerns to share.
