BOO!

Did I scare you? Grow up... baby

On Friday we had our Halloween English Night! You can see from the picture above that we had a few trick-or-treaters come! Around 180 students came out and the costumes from absolutely nothing to a full chicken suit! (you can see that one below.)

AJ had a great talk on finding satisfaction in our lives. She challenged them to think about if true satisfaction really exists, or if life is a perpetual state of looking for what's coming next. Be "thinking" about our friends as we have conversations with them on this topic over the coming days.

October is gone, but it definitely had it's highlights! I've been hanging out with a new guy, Smile. He's the assassin pictured above. He's loud and sometimes has a bit of a potty mouth (he's learned most of his English from playing video games online after all), but he's a fun guy to have around. His favorite game series (Mass Effect), is also one of my all time favorites. It's great news, too because the story in this series has many parallels with the Good News. The Father definitely provided a big, wide open door for His story to be shared. Please be "thinking" about my time with him and that he'll be able to see the Good News as something that is real and true for him!

Just yesterday we did something that will hopefully be a trend this year... We had an English Corner in Gu'an. Longtime readers will know that Gu'an is the hour-bus-ride-away West Campus of our school. In the past we've had English Nights there, but those are always a "come and go and can't talk to students" type of thing. This year, I wanted things to be different because some of our absolute favorite students come from that school. It was a pain to get there. It was a pain to get back. But our time there with the students was oh-so sweet. They greeted us with handmade "Happy Halloween" signs, along with gift boxes full of candy. Their smiles enough made the whole trip worth it. You can see them in the pictures below (the ones with the trees). Oh, I forgot to mention that my old pal Buck was our guide for the day. He came with us for the, what turned out to be 7 hour trip.

Well, that about does it for this update. There's much more to talk about, but I think it's about time we give your eyes a break. The girls started their Book study last week. Be thinking of them. Expect to see an email from me soon about English Week. This is not until May, but now is the time where we're looking for people who would be interested in coming over for this very special trip. Who knows, this might be the only time in your life where you have a chance to come to CHINA! Think about it.

My next big update will be after Thanksgiving. Spoiler alert: It's nothing but a giant Christmas list.
